Can a manager be held liable if he organizes an after work employee appreciation event and someone gets a dui?

A friend of mine got a dui after leaving an employee appreciation event held by her manager at a bar where he purchased drinks for everyone. When she left she got a dui. Can her manager be held liable for her dui and should I contact her business and inform them of the conduct of their manager who was s#@*faced?
She was “let go” last Friday and feels it was unjustified and thinks her manager has something against her.
